New look website

As you may have noticed the website has a completely new look! As well as the new design all the pages are in the process of being updated. There have also been quite a few changes under the hood. Many of these should make it easier for staff to use the site but they will also give us the scope to expand the site’s usefulness for students and parents.

Please feel free to a comment about the site by using the link just below. We’d love to hear your thoughts about the redesign and about what else you would like to see here.

Installation work

installation-art-blog

Carrying on from the installation piece made for holocaust day, we used the “units” created to make a new piece. A simple form, a circle within a circle, graced the art room floor for half a morning and then the units retreated back into their box.

Next?

We’ll keep you posted.

Also shown is the wall display of the original piece, made on Holocaust rememberance day.

Lathe work

The Lathe is proving to be a popular new addition to the D+T room, with just about everyone turning their hand to it. Here we see Michael getting to grips with the skills and attempting his first spindle. Good work Mike.

A Game of Tag

bronwyn-x3-5401

Bronwyn was Graff queen this week, with a tag designed by Sevgi. Mucho students paid their respects to the lady of the centre, by colouring in her GraffBomb in different ways. Thanks and respect to, MBK, Big J, Teki and the Bron herself.

We’ve had another very enjoyable trip to London to see the Woman In Black. A fantastic production and a little scary too.

Stick pictures

Emily and Esme have been looking at the work of sculptor, Andy Goldsworthy, and decided to recreate one of his early pieces, stick throwing. On a trip out to the local fields they recreated the piece with dried sticks from the hedgerow. All sticks were replaced afterwards.

Warholly

holly-pos-neg-001-540

Holly had an arty day today, working solidly on one piece. Inspired by Andy Warhol, the Milky-Bar Kid produced a stunning spray art piece, using a template of herself, enlarged on the projector and sprayed in 4 colours.

Tanfastic!
