Digital Art

leroytec1Leroy created his first multi layered image in Gimp today.

DJ, Decks, logo and text, all cross faded together to make a great piece.

Well done leroy, quick work and very satisfactory. I’ll be interested to see where we go next.

Bronwyn’s Portrait

Bronwyn portraitBronwyn created this lovely self portrait in Art today. Great work Bronny. She learnt to ‘not worry about it not looking right and to just get on with it.’

A good lesson to learn!

Art Trip

kappoor BlogA group of students and staff had their eyes truly opened today, on a trip to London to see the Anish Kapoor exhibition at the Royal Academy in Piccadilly. The artwork was beatiful beyond belief and everyone found something to rave about. Along with the gallery we also hit some of the touristy bits, Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square, Piccadilly Circus and Oxford Street, as well as picking up Monopoly names on Fleet Street and Northumberland Avenue.

Big thanks to Jane for organising the trip and thanks to Jay, Bronwyn, Emily, Esme, Emily and Natalie for making the day relaxed and fun.

Lets get back in that studio and take it to another level!

The Photo shows the group reflected in “Tall Tree and the Eye” (2009) in the courtyard of the Royal Academy

Mathematical Snowflakes

Snowflake blogUsing a simple set of rules, each new layer is added on, one face touching only one face, the pattern grows.

The snowflake forms differently depending on where you stop adding layers.

Crow Catching

GEOCACHE BLOG5 went treasure hunting this morning, in search of a geocoin.

We logged on to http://www.geocaching.com/ and searched for treasures nearby only to discover that a rare coin “Carrion Crow” was placed in a multi stage geocache in Sherborne. We had to find two other boxes before the final one, which involved a 3 mile treck and a slow jog over the windy common but the goal was well worth it.

This coin has travelled from New Jersey in the U.S. via Italy. We will put it in a new cache soon.

Michael put a quote on the coins log at http://www.geocaching.com/ which reads

“well that was fun, finding it, got lost once but hey its a part of haveing fun, and now we have the coin yay lol :)”
