Smokin Bob

I got a picture of Bob Marley on the projector, and I shaded in all the dark areas of his face to make a pencil sketch drawing’ – Jay

Bye Bye Sebastian

Today we said goodbye to our friend Sebastian.

Seb has been helping us on a thursday and today was his last day before taking up a full time job working with young people with disabilities. Sebastian has been very popular with staff and students alike and will be very much missed.

To say thank you the students spent the morning creating goodbye presents and cards. The picture to the left is a painting of his motorbike, photographed and created by the group. We also made cards and a second painting, an anime character to remind him of his work with us, and a good luck card.

A very big thank you to all students involved,Patrick, Alex, Emily S, Esme, Emily C, Kenny, Bronwyn, Natalie and  Tezra.

And an even bigger thank you to Seb. You have been an inspiration and a joy to work with, good luck in your new role and keep in touch.

Leroy’s Gorilla

Leroy’s been at it again. Working on the architecture theme, he made this towerblock and then, using ‘Gimp’, we stitched it into a skyscraper skyline.

Norman Foster beware!

Leroys ‘Love’

Leroy played a blinder today, taking his ‘pinstripes’ image and creating a great photomontage from it.

We photographed his drawing, imported it into the computer, created the heart, photographed it, imported it, and then used multiple layering techniques to blend it all together.

A cool piece of work that would make a great flyer.

Good work Leroy

Emily’s Gherkin

In art today I decided to look at buildings and the different shapes and details in architecture. I looked at several different well known buildings and after having a go at doing a painting of the London Eye I decided that I wanted to do a collage of another building. I used the projector to put the image up onto the wall and then I built the collage straight onto a piece of paper. This is my finished piece.

Congratulations to those students who won gift vouchers last term, for their weekly spellings success.

Tezra scored 95% or more, and Emily S & Bronwyn both got between 90% and 95%.

It all starts again this term.

Christmas Fayre

Father Christmas with childrenA little while ago the XL club students organised a Christmas Fayre. Led by Vicky they made decorations and cakes to sell. They were able to book Father Christmas and one of his elves for the day and Bronwyn provided a selection of beauty treatments. The event was a great success and raised well over £300. The money will pay for a playhouse for St Paul’s Playgroup.
