Extended Schools training

On Monday Ian and Julia went to the third Extended Schools workshop. The government wants all schools to become extended schools. This means schools need to provide access to things like child care, links with the community, quick support for young people or their parents and lots of interesting and useful things to do (like sports and trips and art).

Extended Schools work involves a lot of multi-agency working, something we do a lot of already and are very keen on developing.

As a result of these workshops, we are hoping to do some work with Adult Education to help us give better information to parents and carers about how to support their children with things like GCSE coursework and revision. If it all goes to plan there will be some exciting new things happening next term!
