Callista Survey Trip

Sasha, Josh and Andrew joined students from Dorchester and Bridport, on a very cold Thursday morning and drove to Southampton University, where they embarked on the research vessel “Callista”.

On the very, very cold day we measured the temperature and salinity (saltiness) of the water. Using a Secchi disc, we measured how deep the light went. We trawled the bottom and looked at fish, crabs and squid as well as seaweed, seasquirts and slipper limpets. We drove home and Chris couldn’t hear for two days because of listening to Andrew’s growling “music”.
